Depth Perception.

Porcelain, Underglaze, Glaze, Earthenware, Luster, Thread. 10” x 18” x 10”

“Depth Perception” began as the failed porcelain phrase ‘again again again,’ from about 7 years ago. Obsession has always thematically driven my work, and by literally building on these words, I can create a kind of puzzle-landscape. I have found this process and result dynamic and engaging, though in the layered chaos as I was working, I struggled with my vision. It occurred to me that this problem with my depth perception was metaphoric. Thread running through this piece highlights a viscerality and playfully counters its serious origins.
